Salt Lake City resident cat Carrot, “a beauty,” is looking for a peaceful new home

A sweet gray cat with some special health needs needs a new home in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.

The 2-year-old female named Carrot was first brought to the Best Friends Animal Society’s Lifesaving Center in Salt Lake City in July 2021, the shelter told Fox News Digital.

She was originally at a partner shelter affiliated with No Kill Utah.

Carrot was adopted as a kitten and was returned due to health issues. Her previous owners suspected she had seizures, the shelter said.

Still, Carrot is a “beauty with the softest fur,” the shelter said.

And while she “prefers a quieter environment,” Carrot has “an energetic and fun-loving personality that comes out as soon as she feels comfortable.”

“Carrot may take a while to get used to new friends, but has previously lived successfully alongside dogs, cats and older children,” they said.

Carrot, an “independent girl”, who likes to occupy herself with toys, is not one to turn down the attention of her owners.

She’s “a fan of getting pets and scratching and finding a good lounging spot in the house,” according to the Best Friends Animal Society.

Anyone wanting to add Carrot to their family should email [email protected] and mention Carrot by name, the shelter said.

This weekend, Best Friends Animal Society and its more than 600 shelter and rescue partners are celebrating the fifth annual “National Adoption Weekend.”

Adoption fees will be waived at the Best Friends Lifesaving Centers and programs in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Houston, Northwest Arkansas and Kanab, Utah, for the duration of the event, the Best Friends Animal Society told us. Fox News digital.

Many partner shelters and rescues will also offer free or reduced adoption fees from June 30 through July 2, the association added.

“Adopting a unique and lovable shelter pet saves two lives: that of the adopted cat or dog, and another who can now take his place at the shelter,” they said.

All adopted pets will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and chipped, the organization said.

“Right now, there is a dog or cat that is perfect for your family, waiting for their loving home in a shelter. (If people) adopt from a local shelter or rescue organization, we can ensure that the entire country is not kills more,” Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, said in a press release to Fox News Digital.
