SEOUL – Seoul resident Kim Mi-young nearly screamed in fear on a subway train in September when she saw the reflection of a strange ahjussi, or middle-aged man in South Korea, right behind her in the glass door.

Minutes earlier, the man had sat next to the 29-year-old office worker as she was engrossed in texting a friend during her hour-long drive home.
