Florida law enforcement is working to clear squatters from an island they’ve outfitted with an elaborate treehouse, “welcome center,” and trampoline.

“TRESPASS NOTICE You are ordered to leave the island within 48 hours,” signs posted by the Florida Police Department on an island in Port Orange.

The island, according to a video posted by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, is dotted with several handcrafted wooden structures, including an elaborate four-story tree house and other cabins made from what appear to be old wood and tree branches.

The sheriff’s office on Friday assisted members of the Port Orange Police Department, South Daytona Police Department and Florida Fish and Wildlife by posting no trespassing signs at the squatters’ camp. The island is located near Dunlawton Bridge in Port Orange, with social media commentators calling it “good ole meth island” and “Gilligan’s Island”.

“Parts of these islands are overrun with campgrounds, trash, wooden structures, towers, and even a trampoline. For anyone who enjoys the beauty of this area, this is a step toward returning it to nature,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote. from Volusia on Facebook.

The campground appeared empty when police posted the No Trespassing signs on Friday.

The video shows that the squatters have tried to decorate the island, including painting hearts on beams of a building, hanging old license plates on buildings like paintings, installing a trampoline and posting a sign directing visitors to the “Welcome Center”. from the island leads.
