The United States Federal Marshals Service (US Marshals) confirmed this Thursday the arrest in Mexico of Félix Herrera García, husband of the owner of a New York daycare where they had a fentanyl laboratory and where a one-year-old child died. for being exposed to drugs.

Herrera García was captured on video leaving the Divino Niño daycare center, located in the Bronx, with two bags, moments before the emergency service arrived to treat three children who had health problems on September 15.

One-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici died of cardiac arrest caused by exposure to fentanyl.

Authorities found a drug lab inside the daycare.

A few days after the tragedy, the United States Department of Justice issued a federal warrant for the arrest of Herrera García on charges of narcotics conspiracy resulting in death.

Investigators established that the man had fled to Texas and from there to Mexico.

Working with U.S. Marshals and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, Mexican authorities located the suspect on a bus in the state of Sinaloa.

Herrera García was detained without further incident by the Municipal Police of Barandilla (Sinaloa), the agency explained in a statement.

In this regard, Ralph Sozio, United States Marshal for the Southern District of New York, said that the arrest of the suspect is an example of the effectiveness of international collaboration, and highlighted that these alliances “are stronger than ever.”

Along with Herrera García, his wife Grei Méndez De Ventura, 36 years old and owner of the daycare center, has been accused; Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38, and Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41.

All four face federal charges related to drug distribution resulting in death.

Cell phone records linked Méndez to Acevedo Brito and Parra Paredes. The woman deleted thousands of texts and made three calls before contacting emergency services, according to court documents.
