Last week, Esben Holmboe Bang, CEO of Maaemo, announced that he is withdrawing from some of his places, including the popular Kafeteria August in the Tullinkvartalet.
– We are very much looking forward to taking over and continuing the good work that Esben has done with Kafeteria August, Betong’s chef and owner Jonathan Hagen wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
From the opening of Kafeteria August in 2022, they will serve varied small and shared dishes for lunch and dinner and have become an Oslo favorite. The atmosphere, menu and location are inspired by Copenhagen.
There is also a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Betong. Hagen brings along partners Kai Lyche and Ali Wali, who are also co-owners of Betong.
– There will be new elements, but we want to continue the unique atmosphere and keep the feeling of Copenhagen, with good help from the Danish chef of Kafeteria August, Johannes Samsom, Lyche writes in the press release on Wednesday.
Samson has experience at restaurant and wine bar Omar in Copenhagen. Last year he was chef at Kafeteria August and he will remain so.
