A driver who killed a girl he was traveling with when he lost control of his vehicle while bragging about his driving skills was jailed for seven years in Britain today.

Rida Kazem reached speeds of 180km/h before the serious accident when his vehicle collided with a parked car and fell off the bridge onto the train tracks in north London.

His car hit a parked Tesla before crashing onto the train tracks, killing Kazem’s passenger, 33-year-old Yagmur Ozden.

Another passenger in the car, Zamarod Arif, who was 26 at the time of the accident, suffered serious injuries including a broken arm and leg.

Kazem was taking the two girls home after they had gone out together on the evening of August 22, 2022.

Today he was jailed for seven years at Isleworth Crown Court.

Judge Martin Edmunds told him: “The speed and violence of this accident was appalling, your Range Rover was reduced to a jumble of metal.

“You were bragging to your two passengers, selling them the powerful car and what you believed to be your skills, but it is clear that your skills were not.”

The driver of the £120,000 Range Rover, 24-year-old Rida Al Mousawi, and front-seat passenger Zamarod Arif survived the horrific crash, which was caught on CCTV.

In an interview from the hospital, Arif recounted how the victim had begged Al Mousawi to slow down, but added that he preferred to play with his passengers by speeding.

Vaja added that her 32-year-old friend was not wearing her seat belt as they drove home on the A40 late in the evening.
