Her husband traveled to Uruguay the next morning, not knowing what had happened to their son.
She heard the news on the radio, very early, when she listened to the Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazú program. She took a taxi and when she got home they were taking out the charred corpses, covered with sheets. “When I saw such a disaster I lost consciousness of everything. I think to this day I sometimes look for it,” she explained.
“Lucy” could not understand how the person responsible for the massacre had committed the act for revenge against the father of the family: “None of the boys had anything to do with it. It was an adult problem.”
Matías Bagnato, the only survivor of the fire, loved her like a mother. He always remembered her with great affection. In a post on her Facebook wall on the anniversary of the massacre in 2013, “Lucy” posted that the two had “become twins.”
