The Thirty-Third Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS Administrative and Financial Committee (AFC) opens in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. The semi-annual meeting commencing July 2, 2023 and ending July 4, 2023 will discuss, among other things, the status of duties assigned to community institutions by the 32nd meeting of the AFC, the financial situation of the community as of June 15, 2023, and Interim Report on programs and budget implementation, status of implementation of the provisions of the protocol on Community levies by Member States, and implementation status of the ECOWAS Regional Stabilization and Development Fund, among others.

In her opening speech, HE thanked Ms. Damtien Larbli Tchintchibidja, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, the people and government of Guinea-Bissau for the warm welcome and congratulated them on the successful parliamentary elections. The vice president reiterated the four strategic objectives of the current administration and the progress made in achieving the laudable goals. She urged the committee to enshrine professionalism and impartiality and thanked them for their service to the community, particularly with regard to their deliberations on regional bloc administrative and financial issues.
