HONG KONG — A pair of rubber ducks made an impression Friday in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor, part of an art installation called “Double Ducks” by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, who says he hopes the ducks will bring good luck to the city.

The inflatable yellow ducks, 18 meters high, will sail in the harbor for two weeks and come ten years after Hofman’s sculpture ‘Rubber Duck’ drew crowds in the Asian financial center in 2013.

Mr Hofman said his pair of ducks represent “twice the fun, twice the happiness” and bring new excitement to Hong Kong.

“I hope it will bring as much joy as it did in the past and in a world where we suffered from pandemic, wars and political situation, I think now is the right time to bring back the double happiness.”

Curator AllRightsReserved (ARR) said the ducks were like the symmetrical Chinese characters “xi” for luck and “peng” for friends.
