Trump’s legal team claims the former president has no material matching the description of a secret document he claimed to have in 2021 intake which was obtained by the Ministry of Justice.

The document, reportedly classified as “SECRET”, reportedly contains descriptions of an attack plan against Iran proposed by General Mark Milley. That reports CNN Friday that in March, shortly after learning of the tape’s existence, Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office issued a subpoena for “anything” material related to Milley and Iran — only to be heard by Trump’s legal team get that they have none of it the kind.

According to The New York Times, investigators questioned witnesses about whether the former president showed them or others a map allegedly containing classified information.

The taped encounter reportedly took place in July 2021 at Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. The former president met with biographers of his former chief of staff Mark Meadows, who was not present, and members of his own staff.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the recording told CNN that the president indicated that while he wished he could describe the contents of a document to attendees, he was unable to do so because several attendees did not have permission. He reportedly indicated that he knew he had been withholding classified material and that he could not simply declassify documents after his departure from the presidency.

The latest admission blows a hole in Trump’s claims that the trove of hundreds of documents he kept at Mar-a-Lago after leaving office were perfectly legal because he could release documents just by “saying” or ” to think about it’.

That Trump’s team denies having the material will certainly not be enough to convince investigators to abandon the search. After all, it lasted multiple transfers and an FBI investigation to determine exactly how many classified documents Trump kept on his estate. Smith was there too to research former Trump attorney Evan Corcoran, who drafted an affidavit shortly before the FBI raid claiming that a “zealous search” had been conducted at the property and that no classified material remained.
