The trial of the two 17-year-old teenagers accused of murdering businessman Andrés Blaquier added important evidence this week: the videos showing what the violent motorcycle attack on the Pan-American Highway looked like.

This is footage that was presented for the first time as part of the trial and shows the sequence from October 29, 2022, when Blaquier drove his BMW 1200 motorcycle along the Panamericana Highway Ramal Pilar.

It shows how the high-end motorcycle that Blaquier was riding with his wife Magdalena De Elordy is outclassed by the motorcycle that the two thieves were riding.

Another smaller displacement moped approached Blaquier, who was traveling in the slow lane, blocked his path and shot the businessman at kilometer 50 of the route.

One of the projectiles hit his chest, causing him to lose control of his vehicle in which he was traveling with his partner Magdalena De Elordy, who suffered fractures in her left knee.

When both occupants were on the ground, the perpetrators took the opportunity to steal the motorcycle and escape. Blaquier, 62, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of “hypovolemic shock.”

The entire sequence was recorded by the Pilar municipality’s surveillance cameras and by footage from a bingo hall in the area, which captured the movement of the motorcycles.

In another case, there is a video in which the two defendants appear on a motorcycle. Then they will show up and use the same Yamaha to rob Blaquier. “From the clothing it can be concluded that it is her,” said Ramiro Salaber, the family’s lawyer.

After the attack, one of the criminals confiscated the businessman’s motorcycle and fled with his accomplice, but later fell out of the vehicle. He left her alone, seriously injured.

Although one of them was wearing a helmet, part of his face and hand can be seen; while the other had nothing on his head, so the picture is very clear.

Another important piece of evidence was the footage of the teenager who fell from the motorcycle as he entered a hospital in Garín just hours after the crime to receive treatment for injuries caused by the fall of the stolen BMW motorcycle.

The two teenagers are accused of “triple aggravated homicide” due to “criminal punishment”, treason and the use of firearms. Also for “robbery of double severity” against Blaquier’s wife, for the use of a firearm and the resulting serious injuries (she suffered a broken knee and a broken rib).

According to Salaber, the sentence will not be known at this point in the trial. “It will be determined whether they are guilty or innocent,” he told TN. This is because both are under 18 years old.

If they are found responsible for the crime, they will continue to be deprived of their freedom. The verdict will not be announced until next year in a kind of “mini trial”. Both teenagers remain incarcerated in two different juvenile centers awaiting their final verdict.
