New research from SpinGenie has revealed that Canada has some of the most popular and most expensive ski resorts in the world.

According to research published Wednesday, Canada is home to 30 of the 50 most expensive and largest ski resorts in the world.

SpinGenie says Mont Tremblant in Quebec is the most expensive ski resort in Canada – it operates year-round with an average lodging cost of $427 per night.

Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia came in at number two – it costs $192 per night to stay there. Whistler Blackcomb, the largest ski resort in North America, came in third and the cost per night is $209 for adults and $105 for children.

There are several beautiful and expensive resorts in Canada, but the US is home to the world’s most expensive resort.

Colorado’s Aspen Snowmass topped the charts with an average cost of lodging of $1,568 per weeknight.

Big Sky Resort in southwestern Montana is the second most expensive resort in the world with accommodation costs of $1,185 per night.

The US dominated the list with seven of the top 10 most luxurious resorts.

METHODOLOGY:

SpinGenie studied the 50 largest ski resorts in the world, as well as the 25 largest in Canada, based on their ski areas according to SkiResort.info. In some cases where multiple awards were available for different areas within one resort, the largest or most famous was used (e.g. Verbier in Four Valleys). All prices are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.
