The White House grounds were evacuated on Sunday after the US Secret Service (USSS) discovered an “unknown item.”

“Officers of the United States Secret Service uniform division found an unknown item at the White House compound,” a USSS spokesman told Fox News Digital.

“As a precaution, the White House grounds were evacuated and the DC Fire Department’s Hazmat team responded,” the spokesman said.

DC Fire and EMS were contacted to evaluate, USSS said.
