South Korea is sending 151 firefighters to Canada along with more than 1,400 foreign firefighters to fight hundreds of wildfires that have ravaged the country.

According to the Korean Embassy in Canadathis team of “emergency” firefighters will be on a 30-day mission to help firefighters in Lebel-sur-Quevillon, Que., an area that has experienced one of the worst fires in Quebec since this year’s wildfire season.

It is the second time in 2023 that the Korean disaster response team has been sent to such a deployment. During their first mission, the team was involved in a relief operation in Turkey after the earthquake that hit the country in February.
