Clash of Anwar’s current and former Selangor leaders could erode his hold on power

KUALA LUMPUR – It took just 24 hours after Malaysia’s wealthiest state, Selangor, dissolved its legislature on June 23, for both Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Pakatan Harapan (PH) and former Prime Minister Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional (PN) Yassin launched their election machines on the main battlefield.

Reflecting both Selangor’s economic importance and the expected uphill battle, their events were simultaneously held in the capital Shah Alam and attended by the top leaders of their coalition.
