Communications knew how to suffer this Saturday night in Malacatán, San Marcos, to turn around the match on date 10 of Apertura 2023 and emerge victorious on the hour with a 2-3 against Malacateco.

Willy Olivera’s team arrived at the Santa Lucía stadium with the incentive of having beaten Coatepeque, 5-2, the previous weekend. And although this overwhelming result seemed to calm the criticism of his coach, in the middle of the week, in international competition, they re-emerged after the goalless draw against Herediano.

On the other hand, in the previous round, Malacateco had just lost 2-1 against Xinabajul the previous Sunday in Los Cuchumatanes. Let us remember that it was in this match that goalkeeper Alejandro Peláez lost his temper and was sent off after a confusing encounter with a rival from the “X”.

Something that those led by the former Mexican Cruz Azul man, Gabriel Pereira, sought to forget from the start of the game. Since they came out with everything to try to hurt their rivals on the scoreboard.

Despite the intensity of the match, we had to wait until the end of the first half, at 41, when Nelson Andrade overwhelmed the white defense and in full view of the center backs defined the 1-0 with an accurate right hand.

After the break, beginning the second half, at 47, the night seemed to come to a head when Pedro Báez doubled the lead for the local team.

Andrade himself was in charge of distributing the assist for Baéz, in another overflow and later, with a cross that the scorer managed to deflect for the temporary 2-0.

Thus, with blood in their eyes and on the verge of knockout, the albos knew how to suffer and in the 53rd, through Rafael Morales, they were able to take a breath. After a free kick, taken by Matías Fracchia, Morales collected the rebound left by Luis Ruiz and made it 2-1 momentarily.

Then, the match reached its climax in the final minutes, first at 87, when Lynner García scored a pass from Gerardo Gordillo into Ruiz’s goal. Turning into reality that saying that two headers in the area always end in a goal.

Finally, in the 88th minute, Panamanian Yorman Aguilar broke Ruiz’s goal with a very strong left foot shot to complete the creamy comeback at 2-3.

In this way, Comunicaciones ended up giving a hand to its eternal rival, Municipal, to give it the top of the competition, after the reds beat Zacapa 4-2 at the Manuel Felipe Carrera.

Thus, the general table has a change of command, leaving the reds as leaders, followed by Malacateco, Comunicaciones and Antigua in the first four steps.

Looking ahead, the albos will face the roosters in the national capital next Sunday at 6 pm. Not before facing their Central American Cup match against Herediano at the José Rafael Fello Meza stadium at 8:15 p.m.
